Head Teachers Welcome Message
Head Teachers Welcome
Welcome To Da Vinci Academy
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our website.
I feel privileged to have been appointed Headteacher of Da Vinci Academy and I am completely committed to the achievement of successful outcomes for each and every one of our students. We are part of the L.E.A.D. Academy Trust and together we have a strong and clear vision – to be the best that we can be and to deliver outstanding education to young people. This is what we all firmly believe in and strive to achieve at all times.
We have the highest expectations of professional standards in our staff and excellent conduct by our students which lead to students having the right to learn and staff having the right to teach. We are proud of our traditional approach to uniform, homework and behaviour standards.
Through exceptional teaching, outstanding leadership and the highest quality pastoral care, we want our students to feel safe, to feel supported and to realise their potential. In this way, we therefore prepare our students for entrance to higher education, high quality employment and future careers of their choice.
I work with a great team of students, staff, parents and governors who expect the very best from our school. We want everyone to be proud to be a part of Da Vinci Academy and in turn our wider community to be proud of us.
I look forward to welcoming you
Mrs Katie Roberts
Chair Of Governors
A message from the Academy Advisory Body
As an ‘old boy’ of this school myself and with many family connections to it – from the past right up to the present day – I’m very proud to be the current Chair of the Academy Advisory Body (AAB) at Da Vinci.
Members of the AAB are still titled as “Governors” although our role in governance has changed. As we are now part of the L.E.A.D. Multi-Academy Trust, the key activities of the AAB are three-fold:
- To promote L.E.A.D. and its activities in managing and improving our Academy,
- To offer challenge to the Head Teacher and the Senior Leadership Team regarding the Academy’s progress, and
- To provide the Parent and Community ‘Voice’ within the Academy.
I’m very pleased to report that we now have a full complement of Parent Governors. The AAB offers its thanks to those parents who have undertaken this role in the past and welcomes those who have now agreed to take on these important duties going forward.
I’m sure you are aware of many of the changes that have been made in the Academy over the past 12 months, especially in the way that it operates in order to further improve the welfare and outcomes for all of our Students. The AAB congratulates Mrs Roberts and her staff on the hard work that they have put in to develop and achieve these changes. This is further confirmed by the results of a number of recent (independent) Academy reviews that have declared that our progress is on an upward trajectory – in general and across specific areas of our delivered curriculum. Further changes are anticipated and the AAB will continue to both support and challenge the Academy’s performance going forward.
I sincerely believe that all of our Parents and Carers can now have the utmost confidence in Da Vinci Academy and that your children will continue to find it a safe and nurturing environment in which they can all thrive and achieve their highest potential.
It just remains for me to wish everyone connected with Da Vinci a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year in 2019.
With best wishes,
Chair of the Academy Advisory Body

A message from our Head Girl
Welcome to Da Vinci Academy – my name is Cerys Jones and I am the Head Girl here at Da Vinci Academy.
Picture the scene: I started at Da Vinci almost 5 years ago and I can still remember the feelings of nerves and excitement that I had as I walked through the atrium.
Back in 2014 when I and my parents started to think about which high school I would go to, I was determined that I would go to a place that would allow me to fulfil my dream of becoming a teacher. Thanks to all the amazing opportunities that I and the rest of the students at Da Vinci have, I am confident that my time at Da Vinci has enabled me to have the best chance of succeeding in my ambition.
Da Vinci Academy has improved dramatically whilst we have been here. The first big improvement started with the change of our Headteacher to who we now have. Mrs Roberts has big expectations for us as young people and so far, has driven us closer to our aspirations. Her main goal is to make us the best school in the country and we know we are heading in the right direction.
We chose Da Vinci because the small community made us all feel closer and allowed us to grow together. The friendly environment makes each lesson fun and enjoyable even if the subject isn’t our favourite. The wide variety of choices we have makes our school unique, as it allows us all to think about what we want for the future and helps us take the next step.
The staff at our school are easy to talk to and very supportive of our different requirements. They all take their time to understand each student which means they can help us with our struggles in learning. They also join in with events such as sports day and even DofE!
From all of us here in the Prefect Team, we would like to thank you for finding out about our school. We are sure that you will now feel just as certain as we do that our school is a place where this generation can strive, believe, learn and achieve to the best of abilities.
